Colour will play a big part in the comic. I want it to reflect the mood of each situation so I am exploring different options and putting together a colour script:

I mentioned the story is about three girls and they are the main characters. I am not a writer and with this being my first time creating something like this from scratch, I am afraid generic horror themes won't be avoided (at the end of the day, I like them) but what I don't want is generic characters. The girls are in their early teens but I feel teenagers are a lot more three-dimensional than they are portrayed a lot of the time. My (horrible) experience as a teenage girl will hopefully come in handy too. I have been making notes on the characters' personalities I am using throughout the whole designing process. And while on the train for a work trip, I got time to even sketch them! I am not 100% happy with them though so will be re-working parts of the designs.
In the photo, you also get a sneak peek at one of the other characters At the start of 2016, I made a New Year's resolution to create a game. Life got busy and so did work so it never happened... And as much as I love working on so many different projects with my freelancing, I want to create something that's my own. So, I thought If I don't start now, I may never do it. And here we are! I have had a few ideas for a while now but I am very tired of leaving personal projects to die a slow death due to lack of free time so starting small, with realistic goals and no pressure. As I am working around other projects, I am thinking of creating a small "demo" first, and then going from there. But what is the game? I am a huge fan of the horror genre and watch so many horror films that it made sense. I do admit, I am not strong enough to play 3D horror games but I feel 2D ones are a different kind of horror and the whole experience is so different. And it is definitely an experience I enjoy! Once I had the genre, the story kind of flew out of my head on a piece of paper and I kept developing it. Now I have a very good idea where I'm going and have already started designing the characters. I also generally don't call it a game when talking to people but an interactive comic. More on why I do that when I figure it out... A (very brief) summary of the Story
The story is about three girls who meet up for a sleepover and decide to play a game of Truth or Dare. After that, the possibilities of where that goes is really up to the player. |
